2013 Tech Predictions
LukeTue Dec 18, 2012 3:55 pm
Here are my predictions for what will happen in tech in 2013.
Blackberry will not have the success with Blackberry 10 that they need and will create a Android and iPhone app for mail and BBM.
A major PC maker will sell to a competitor or close its door. (If I had to pick today I would say Acer Group or Asus.)
CDs will see a huge decrease in sales. Many new albums not being put on CDs expect for very limited special editions.
Apple will layoff some of their computer division and cut the number of models they sell. Making big moves to mobile and home entertainment.
Finally my big one 2013 will be the year of streaming video. A major news channel will start offering 24/7 streaming. You will also see a massive increase in online streaming video libraries on Amazon and Netflix as movie studios really start getting into the idea of streaming.
Ok that is my predictions what are your predictions? What do you think of mine?

The idea of increasing streaming video is exciting. I love movies (don't watch tv at all) and the idea of having any movie available to watch (more than likely through a subscriber service) would be great. Netflix is ok, but they don't offer a wide enough range of movies. Also, the idea of having a movie available to watch at home the same day it's released at the box office may be a win/win for everyone. You'd probably pay dearly at first, but the increased competition may drive prices down.
I would also like to see advances in fiber optics and related technology...imagine! To be able to play any game, or watch any movie at any time without any lag. Fantastic! And I think we're almost there.

Yeah, would love for Google Fiber to come to Cincinnati.
I'm curious about hdtv and 4ktv prices, with those tv manufacturers being caught
price fixing, I wonder if they'll drop.
interested in flexible screens, raspberry pi improvements. idk what else.

4Ktv is something that will be interesting to watch. I wonder if it will be like DVD vs Blueray where people say DVDs look just fine on my HDTV. I just don't think the change is noticeable enough of people to go drop thousands to replace their HDTVs.

Luke, are those not the same predictions from last year? LOL Guess if you keep using the same ones sooner or later they will be right.
Just kidding though, I kinda look forward to your yearly predictions, almost like a David Letterman list.
